UBC\u2019s <\/span>Dr. Annette Stemhagen<\/a> received well-deserved recognition at this year\u2019s <\/span>DIA Global Annual Meeting<\/a> with an <\/span>Excellence in Service Inspire Award<\/strong><\/a>. These awards combine recognition of those individuals who have provided outstanding contributions to advancing global health with volunteer service awards that honor exceptional leadership, commitment to service, and advancement of DIA\u2019s mission.<\/span><\/div>\n

The Excellence in Service Awards are peer-nominated awards. All nominations are reviewed by a committee and selection is made based on the committee\u2019s review of the nominations. To be eligible for consideration, a nominee must have a record of outstanding commitment to raising the level of health and well-being worldwide.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe DIA Inspire Awards recognize the commitment to health and well-being for all that DIA members and volunteers show each day. This year\u2019s winners are improving healthcare and are dedicated to creating and sharing knowledge through collaboration for the benefit of the world. On behalf of DIA, I want to congratulate these award winners for their success and thank them for the contributions they have and will continue to make to their respective fields and society at large,\u201d <\/em>said Barbara Lopez Kunz, Global Chief Executive, DIA.<\/p>\n

Dr. Annette Stemhagen is an epidemiologist with more than 30 years of public health research experience and has a long history of sharing her knowledge with others. Dr. Stemhagen is active in the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology and the Drug Information Association. She served on the Board of Directors for each of these organizations. Dr. Stemhagen has held adjunct faculty appointments at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Medicine, the Temple University School of Pharmacy, and the Drexel University School of Public Health. In 2004, Dr. Stemhagen was appointed as the first Industry Representative to the FDA Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n
